How Subbly actually works
Before you connect anything, here's exactly what we do with your information — and what we don't.
You choose what to connect
You can connect just your email, just your bank, or both. Neither is required — but combining the two gives us more confidence in what we find.
Email only
We detect renewal notices, price changes, and payment confirmations directly in your inbox.
Bank only
We detect recurring charges in your bank activity, even without a confirmation email to go on.
Email + bank
The most reliable option: we cross-check both sources to confirm each subscription at the highest confidence level.
What we do with your email
When you connect Gmail or Outlook, we use read-only permissions via OAuth — we never ask for your password, and we never see it. We only extract the signals needed to identify subscriptions (provider, price, date); we don't store the full content of your emails.
What we do with your bank
Bank access goes through regulated Open Banking (TrueLayer), never directly. Subbly never sees or stores your bank credentials — it only receives an authorized account reference and your transaction details, to detect recurring payment patterns.
How we verify each subscription
When both sources agree, we mark it as verified. When only one is available, we tell you that too — we never hide where the information came from, or guess at anything we can't confirm.
Confirmed by two independent sources.
Detected from your emails.
Detected from your bank activity.
We couldn't fully confirm this one — we still show it so you can decide.
